The Walking Dead Coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC

The developer's company Starbreeze has announced The Walking Dead will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The game is scheduled to launch in 2016.

"We believe that 'Overkill's The Walking Dead,' represents a huge opportunity to duplicate, even eclipse the success Payday 2 has enjoyed in the last few years by leveraging the existing business relationship between our two companies," CEO of 505's parent company Digital Bros Raphael Galante said in a statement.

The Payday series, has sold more than 9 million copies as of December 31, 2014.

The developer said Overkill's The Walking Dead will deliver a "completely new co-op experience" to the Walking Dead universe that will explore new characters and storylines. The game is being made with the blessing of The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, who says he was certain from the first day he saw the project that it was the "co-op action game fans have been waiting for." It is also the result of a new "long-term" partnership between Starbreeze and Kirkman's Skybound Interactive company. This partnership will extend "into the next decade" and marks a new era for Starbreeze, the company said.

Don't Expect a Traditional Microsoft E3 Showing This Year

Microsoft is breaking from the mold of past E3 showings and will try something different this year at the marquee industry event to be held this June in Los Angeles. We already knew that Microsoft was planning to focus more on first-party games this year, but now Xbox boss Phil Spencer has teased even more ways in which the company plans to shake things up when all eyes on on the Xbox company.

Responding to a fan's question on Twitter about Microsoft's plans for E3 this year, Spencer said Microsoft will have "some interesting changes this year for briefing and the week."

"I like it when we test ourselves to do better each year."

Spencer went on to say that Microsoft will talk about not only Xbox One games, but also titles for PC. "We'll have some of both," he explained.

This is hardly surprising, as Microsoft's new Windows 10 operating system is due to launch this summer with a renewed focus on gaming. Windows 10 will feature a new and improved built-in Xbox app, cross-platform play support for games like Fable Legends, and even a game-streaming application. And if AMD is right, the new OS will launch at the end of July, not long after E3.

Microsoft has not yet announced when it will hold its E3 press conference. But the likely bet would the Monday morning of E3 week. That would mean sometime on June 15, after Bethesda's the night earlier, and before Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, and Sony later in the day.

GDC 2015 announced New cross-Xbox, Windows 10 games

Now, on an upcoming app, those gamers will gain more tools on their PCs as well. The Xbox Live app for Windows 10 includes some features that assist video game streamers.

As The Verge notes, Microsoft first announced the Xbox Live Windows 10 app in January, and consumers got a look at the app at the Game Developers Conference, which takes place in San Francisco between March 2-6. Among other features, users will be able to browse through clips recorded on their Xbox One consoles, edit those clips, and upload them to the social web. “It’s our aspiration to make every game better on Windows 10,” said Microsoft exec Richard Irving.

Microsoft is wise to cater to streamers. Gamers consistently rank among the top channels in our Tubefilter charts, and Twitch’s collection of live streaming videos now attract more than 100 million unique viewers each month.

The app’s recording capabilities naturally extend to PC games as well. Streamers will be able to record footage from their computers with a simple Command + G shortcut.

Microsoft outlined the numerous new features coming to the PC Xbox app for Windows 10, which is currently available to anyone in the Microsoft Insider program. Provided you're in that program, the features listed here will be available when you update to version 4.4.9014.0.

The new features include Game DVR and screenshot functionality, two items already available on Xbox One. Also included in the April update is a new Avatar app where you can customize your avatar's appearance, along with updates to User Profile settings and an option to show your real name (also already available on Xbox One).

In addition, the new Xbox app on Windows 10 has been updated to support live-streaming TV if you already have an Xbox One with a digital TV tuner. What's more, Xbox One controller drivers are now baked into Windows 10, so you won't have to download them separately.

The full version of Windows 10 is due to launch sometime this summer, possibly in July.

In the same blog post, Microsoft also revealed some of the new Xbox One and SmartGlass updates now available to people in the Preview program. Among these features are voice messages (which were originally set to arrive in March), a new power-saving prompt, and the ability to power on and off your console using the SmartGlass app.

WINDOWS 10 and Xbox:

Game DVR for PC games – The Game bar lets you record game clips of your favorite Windows games. With an upcoming Windows Insider update (build 10061 or higher), you will be able to record game clips for Windows PC games using the new Game bar available on Windows 10. To bring up the Game bar, press Windows + G. Click the "Record that" button to save the last 30 seconds of gameplay, or just press Windows + Alt + G. Additionally, you can manually start and stop recording a game clip by clicking on the "Record" button on the Game bar or pressing Windows + Alt + R.
Screenshots – Take screenshots of Windows PC games by pressing Windows + Alt + PrtScr. Just as with Game DVR, you can also do this by clicking the “Screenshot" button on the Game bar.
Live Tiles – The Xbox tile on your Windows 10 start menu can now welcomes you back, showing off your gamerpic and letting you know when you have new messages and activity alerts. To turn this on, go to Settings > General > Live tile
Avatar app – A new app is available in the Windows Store to customize your Xbox avatar's appearance and outfit your avatar with a vast collection of items. In the Xbox app, click the icon for your profile or your friends' profiles to see their Xbox avatar. You can download the Avatar app from the Store on Windows 10.
User profile – You can see another gamer's bio, location, reputation, tenure, and other information in the more info page, including their animated avatar. You can also view their showcase items, including favorite achievements or game clips they added to their profile on their Xbox One.
Real name sharing – Similar to the features we brought you in the March update on Xbox One, you can now choose to share your real name on the Xbox app with all of your friends or with everybody. Click on the “…" at the top of your profile page, then choose Name sharing settings to view and update these settings
Xbox One Now Playing and media controls – The games and apps you've used most recently on your Xbox One are now displayed when you connect the Xbox app to your console. You can also use the Xbox app to pause, fast forward and rewind.
Live TV streaming and PIP (picture in picture) support – For preview members with an Xbox One Digital TV Tuner (in 16 European countries and Australia) or a Hauppauge 955Q TV Tuner (available in the U.S. or Canada) attached to their Xbox One, you can now stream live TV within your home from your Xbox One to Windows 10 PC running the Xbox app. This feature is also available in Xbox One SmartGlass on Windows 8 PCs, Windows Phone 8, iOS, and Android devices. The OneGuide on mobile devices now also provides PIP (picture in picture) support, so you can continue to stream and watch TV while you are using the OneGuide.
Xbox controller drivers – The drivers for Xbox controllers are now included with Windows 10, so you no longer have to download and install controller drivers on Windows 10
Wireless Display app – With more than 2,000 votes, Miracast support will be enabled on Xbox One for preview participants later this week, so you can mirror the experiences on Windows PCs (for example, Surface 2, 3, or 3 Pro; Lenovo X1 carbon; Dell Venue 8), Windows Phone 8, and some Android devices (e.g. Samsung S5, Nexus 7, Motorola Droid) that support non-protected Miracast connections. Windows 10 allows streaming games on xbox one or tablet PC

With the arrival of Windows 10, Microsoft will add an application to play streaming to the Xbox One games from a tablet or a PC with its new system.

During the conference on Windows 10, one of the ads is certainly not fallen off the ear of the players. Successfully complete the indicated task to unlock the corresponding perk. To rescue survivors, you must keep them safe and complete the campaign with them in your party. The easiest way to keep them safe is by obtaining the vehicle keys and keeping them in the vehicles while you complete missions. Note: You cannot rescue all survivors during the first playthrough. You must start a second playthrough to rescue all survivors.

Assault Rifle/Crossbow: Successfully complete the campaign. You will be able to immediately use both the Assault Rifle and Crossbow when you start a second playthrough.

Bigger Clips: Successfully complete the campaign with Mia in your party. Mia can be found inside the theater in Fontana, reachable by traveling to Pemberton after leaving Sedalia.

Faster Stronger: Successfully complete the campaign with Sheila in your party. Sheila cannot be missed. She is found in Danvers on the main campaign path. She will join at the end of the stop.

Item Boost: Successfully complete the campaign with Svenson in your party. Svenson can be found in Oakview, near the main objective of the stop. You can reach Oakview by traveling to Pemberton, then down the right side of the map after leaving Fontana.

Marksman Boost: Successfully complete the campaign with Harrison in your party. Harrison can be found in Sherwood, which is reachable by first traveling to Pemberton, then Oakview, then Archer Creek. He is found inside one of the early houses.

All collectible locations

Search the indicated locations to find all posters and stuffed squirrels. Note: You cannot obtain all collectibles during the first playthrough. You must start a second playthrough to obtain all collectibles.

Vehicle key locations

There are a total of four useable vehicles in the game. After collecting the keys to a vehicle, if you die before reaching the next checkpoint, you will have to collect the key again, as they are not saved immediately. Find all four vehicles to get the "No Down Payments" achievement. Note: You cannot get all collectibles in one playthrough. You have to play through the story at least two times. At some points, you can travel in two directions with a vehicle. If you choose one location, you will not be able to visit the other unless you start a new game and replay the areas. All statistics (collectibles, kills, etc.) will carry over if you start a new game at the main menu. Choose all the locations on the right side during your first playthrough, and choose all the ones on the left in your second playthrough.

Storing extra weapons in vehicles

At the mission prep screen, put the weapons you want to store in your inventory. Fill your vehicle with items until there is no room left. Have a survivor equip the weapons from your inventory, then switch the survivor's weapon back to what they were using before. Look in your vehicle's inventory, and the weapons from your inventory will be in the vehicle after being equipped by the survivor, even though there was no room available. -From: Shoedle

Easy "BOOM! Who Needs a Headshot?" achievement

Find an area where there are a lot of walkers. Then, get them bunched up together. You can get a bunch of them following you by shooting a gun a few times. Once there is a large crowd of walkers, throw a grenade in the crowd. You should kill at least five walkers and get the "BOOM! Who Needs a Headshot?" achievement.

At the very end of the story in "Firesign Stadium", you will have to defend a helipad. Next, you will be shooting a machine gun on a humvee that has unlimited ammo. A lot of walkers will attack, and there will be several propane tanks nearby. Shoot one of the white propane tanks for a chance to kill five enemies with one explosion and get the "BOOM! Who Needs a Headshot?" achievement. There are multiple propane tanks nearby -- so you have more than one chance to get the achievement. Let the walkers kill you if you need to try again.

Easy "Have A Nice Trip!" achievement

You can do this basically anywhere in the game if you have a gun and some ammo. The earliest chance to do this is in the first area of the game, Cabot Ridge. After the opening cutscene, you will be told to collect some fuel, and on the way you can grab a rifle. Kill all walkers, except for one, and shoot its leg. After a few shots, the walker will fall down to the ground. While it is falling, quickly shoot its head. The kill must be done while the walker is falling, not after it starts crawling, to get the "Have A Nice Trip!" achievement.

Easy "I Used To Be A Human Like You" achievement

Once Daryl obtains the crossbow, find a walker that is not paying attention, and shoot him in the calf. It should hit his knee, and you will get the "I Used To Be A Human Like You" achievement. Note: If you try shooting a walker in the knee, it will probably hit above the knee, which is why you need to aim around the calf to hit the knee.

Easy "It's Gotta Be The Brain" and "Need More Spots Up Front" achievements

At the very end of the story in "Firesign Stadium", you will have to defend a helipad. Next, you will be shooting a machine gun on a humvee that has unlimited ammo. While the walkers are attacking, shoot the legs, arms, then heads of all walkers. Xbox One : 25 tips and tricks for getting the most out of your console

The Xbox One has been out for over a year now, with Microsoft adding new features with each monthly update. There might even be a few new features that have slipped through without fanfare.

Here are our Xbox One tips and tricks, to help you uncoverall those extras and make the most of your new console this Christmas.

Speed up your game installation

Every game you play on your Xbox One, whether it’s disc-based or a digital download, you’ll need to install on your Xbox One’s internal (or attached USB 3.0 external) hard drive. It’s a great thing once you’ve got it all installed, but it can take an absolute age to install the bigger AAA games.

If you want to speed up this process, there’s currently an easy work-around that should speed up the install progress. Download the game or insert the disc into your Xbox One, and then disconnect from the Internet and Xbox Live. Either turn off Wi-Fi or detach your Ethernet cable to do so.

Once it’s installed, simply reconnect to the Internet and you’re away.

If you’re looking to bag a couple

of free Xbox One games every month, you’ll want to sign up for an Xbox Live Gold membership. It costs £5.99 a month or you can pay £39.99 for a year's subscription, saving you over £70 in the long run.

Turn your Xbox One into a media streaming device

Since the Xbox One was launched at the tail end of 2013, Microsoft and other third-party companies have worked steadily to increase the media support on the console. So now the Xbox One has a lot more media streaming features than it did at launch, and far more than its rival, the PS4.

First up there’s DLNA media server streaming support, meaning you can stream content over your network from your PC. You can also save media on a USB memory stick and play it on your Xbox One by simply plugging it in.

The Xbox One was also one of the first consoles – the second being it’s older brother the Xbox 360 – to get access to the Plex app. Anyone with a Plex subscription can also access all their content from their Xbox One via Plex too now.

Master your menu button use

You might have noticed, but any content shown is the menu button options is context sensitive. That means the options available change according to which app or game you’ve highlighted in the UI, or which game or other content you’ve currently got full-screen.

Press the menu button for a quick way to bring up hidden menu options that could be evading you. Like finding DLC for games, the general settings menu or just the share options for that latest victory.

You get achievements for more than just games

Not only can the Xbox One port over all your Xbox 360 achievements, but you can also earn achievements on Microsoft’s latest console for more than just games.

The Xbox One expanded the maximum number of Xbox Live friends each player can have. Now, you can have up to 1000 friends on your list, if you’re that popular.

You can have an unlimited amount of followers, though.

Xbox One controller requires two AA batteries

Sadly, unlike the PS4, the Xbox One Wireless Controller is powered by two AA batteries straight out of the box. There’s no recharging options as standard, so you’ll need to buy the Play and Charge kit separately – priced around the £20 mark at the time of writing.

Of course, you can stick to AA batteries if you prefer, especially as you can pick up rechargeable ones for reasonable prices nowadays.

Xbox One supports external hard drives

Although the internal 500GB Xbox One hard drive might sound like a bit of beast, it can actually get filled up pretty quickly if you’ve purchased several AAA titles this year.

Although, in June 2014, Microsoft added support for external hard drives for the Xbox One, meaning you can spill over from that internal hard drive if necessary. In fact, the Xbox One actually supports up to two external hard drives at once, along with the internal 500GB hard drive.

There are a few caveats, though. Each hard drive will need to be USB 3.0 compatible and be at least 256GB in size.

Once you’ve plugged in your external HDD, your Xbox One will ask to format it, which will make that drive your default install location for games, apps and other content. You don’t have to make it the default, though, as your Xbox One will allow content to automatically spill over from the internal one if it happens to get too full.

You can access your save files on your friend’s Xbox One

All game saves are saved into the cloud if you’re connected to Xbox Live, so all you’ll need to do is sign into Xbox Live to access your save files on an Xbox One away from home.

Install the Xbox One Blu-ray player app to watch Blu-ray discs

In order to play Blu-rays on a new Xbox One, you need to install an update. As long as you’re connected to the Internet, the console will prompt you to download the update when you insert a Blu-ray disc.

However, you can also install it manually – useful if you’re planning on taking the Xbox One somewhere where you’ll be without Internet. Go to the Store from the main menu, then head to the apps section. Type in ‘Blu’ or ‘blu-ray’ in the search bar to find the app. Then simply select it to install.

Xbox One Fitness

A mysteriously hidden part of the Xbox ecosystem is Xbox Fitness. It’s an app that any Xbox Live Gold subscribers can use for free. However, it’s not that easy to find on the Xbox One store. Try searching for Xbox Fitness using the Bing search and you’ll root it out, though.

Xbox Fitness gives you workouts to perform, which you can tailor to your own needs. There are lots of different training types, too, each available to download for free as long as you’re signed up for Live Gold.

It uses the Kinect sensor to monitor your pulse, giving two-way interactivity – and it's surprisingly good.

What is SmartGlass and how do I get it?

SmartGlass is one of the most poorly explained parts of the Xbox world. It’s the Xbox companion app, available for phones and tablets. It was originally only available for Windows phones, but you can now download it for iPhones and Android phones, too.

There are separate apps for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, so if you already have SmartGlass, make sure you give the Xbox One version a download. Its most basic functions just let you check out your achievements and so on, but if you use it while connected to the same network as your console, you can use your phone or tablet as a ‘second screen’.

The most useful function is as a keyboard. You can use your phone or tablet’s touchscreen to type in URLs in the Xbox One’s browser, making it far, far more enjoyable to use. You can also load apps using your phone, and set up a load of ‘favourite’ apps on your phone to make using your Xbox even quicker.

Use your phone as a remote for Xbox One

Phone becomes a remote control for the Xbox One with the SmartGlass app, too, allowing you to navigate apps such as Internet Explorer more easily. You can pinch, zoom and click on links far more easily than you can with a controller.

How to get cheap Xbox Live credit and Xbox Live Gold

The Xbox Live Gold subcriptions for the Xbox One are the same as those used with the Xbox 360. So if you already have one on the old console, it’ll carry over to the Xbox One.

Occasionally Microsoft offers sales where you can get pretty cheap Xbox Live subscriptions. However, most of the time you’re better off buying a redeemable code online. CDKeys offers 12-month subscriptions for £26.29 at the time of writing, down from the recommended price of £39.99. There are a few other sites like CDKeys on the web, but it's generally the cheapest of the lot. ‘Like’ them on Facebook and they’ll send you a 5%-off code, too.

Getting money of Xbox Live credit is a bit trickier, but once again CDKeys offers vouchers for a quid or two off.

Using Xbox One Snap

Xbox Snap is one of the neatest new features of the Xbox One. It’s the console’s multitasking feature, and it lets you open up another app on the side of the screen while playing a game.

Things you can open up include Xbox Music, the Internet Explorer browser, the video player and the Xbox Party chat interface. It’s a handy extra that’ll stop you having to open up your laptop should you get stuck in a game.

To use Snap, you can either say "Xbox, snap" while you’re playing to bring up the Snap menu, or go to the menu by pressing the Home button and then select the Snap tile. This brings up the Snap menu, too.

How to use Snap without a Kinect

When the Xbox One was first introduced it was bundled with the Kinect, meaning Microsoft had focused on navigating the UI using voice commands. It got to the point that the Xbox One was near impossible to successfully navigate without the Kinect and using the controller alone.

However, because you can now buy the Xbox One without the Kinect, Microsoft has tweaked the accessibility of the UI when you’re Kinect-free.

That includes big changes to the Snap feature, which lets you run two apps or an app and a game side by side.

When viewing content or playing a game in full screen, simply double tap the menu button to bring up a Snap menu. This allows you to snap an app to the right-hand side of the screen, snap a different app, switch between the two snap segments, and even exit the Snap feature.

Plus, if you double tap that menu button and press the X button in the Snap menu, you can record the last 30 seconds of gameplay – just as the “Xbox, record that” Kinect voice command functions.

How to change your Xbox One avatar

Your avatar is the little character than represents you within the Xbox Live ecosystem. You had better make sure you like how he/she looks.

To customise your Xbox One avatar, go to the Home menu then select My Games and Apps. Now select Avatars > Customise > My Style. Here you’ll be able to choose what your avatar looks like.

Unless you’re clued up, Kinect can seem a bit of a mystery. However, there's a fairly concrete list of commands it will understand – here are the main ones. Each needs to be preceded by "Xbox" for the command to be understood.

Go Home – head to the home menu

Snap, unsnap – switches the Snap feature on and off
Bing – Perform a web search
Sign in – Signs in when on a sign-in page
Use a code – lets you redeem a code or scan a QR code

Volume up, volume down – control the volume of your console
Invite (insert name) – invites a selected contact to play or chat
