Windows 10: review the hardware and software compatibility
Problem: the compatibility of the hardware and software environment with Windows 10
Windows 10 arrived on July 29 on our PC! If Microsoft for the time remains unclear about the users who will have effective access to the final version of the operating system on that date, the publisher has recently mentioned a vague distribution of the Windows updates (see Windows 10: all world can not download the 29 July ), it's time to focus on a specific problem: the compatibility of the hardware and software environment with Windows 10. A brief overview of the announced compatibilities.
AMD
At AMD , we already supports Windows 10. Through Windows Update, there is a pilot using the new driver model introduced by Windows 10 for the graphics, the WDDM 2.0. GPUs who benefit are architecture GCN 1.0 / 1.1 / 1.2 namely the Radeon HD 7000/8000, Radeon R200, R300 and other Radeon Radeon Fury and they benefit by the same means of DirectX 12. The old Radeon HD 5000 type / 6000 are also supported with here a WDDM 1.3 driver.
When questioned, the brand has not told us if she had plans to review its Catalyst Control Center on the occasion of the release of Windows 10. However, a driver Catalyst 15.7 has recently become available and works with Windows 10. However (As explained here) , AMD announced the official support will come from July 29, without specifying whether that means a new version of Catalyst will be published for the occasion.
Corsair
Corsair should also make available updated drivers for Windows 10. Whether the CUE or Corsair Engine Utility, the driver name assets for his keyboards & mouse, or the Corsair Link, its software system. Indeed, a number of Corsair solutions, such as cooling systems and power supplies, Corsair Link technology boarded that allows control from Windows various temperature or ventilation parameters. Corsair says work on a version of the Corsair Link suitable for Windows 10, currently being tested within the brand. Hopefully not long too Corsair to offer the download after the availability of Windows 10.
Creative
The manufacturer's card and other audio accessories Creative has published a calendar of availability of its pilots. This is changing quite regularly for us of delays including but seems wide enough about the supported products. The latest flagships of the brand, as the Sound Blaster X 7, should be entitled to pilot the launch then it will be more or less patient for further references. Thus the iconic Sound Blaster X-Fi drivers that will have ... October. It's long. We will be pleasantly surprised to see that the transition from Sound Blaster Live and Audigy are always in the carrier board. Webcams side, it will be: between July and October depending on model. The software house, as WaveStudio and Alchemy, they should be updated in July.
Note that this support table evokes the management of the new operating system. Difficult to know today if the devices advertised as compatible really benefit from a new driver or if they have simply been tested Creative with the current driver and deemed fit for service in Windows 10 in the state.
Devolo
German Devolo well known for its CPL kits has already released a 4.3.1 version of its software dLAN Cockpit to be compatible with the system. No new functionality here, just a support of the new Microsoft OS.
Intel
The depth is also on deck. The brand already distributes for some time graphics drivers for Windows 10. They therefore support the Iris HD Graphics solutions and its chips and are obtained through Windows Update. It is currently in Beta version with support for HD Graphics 2000/2500/3000/4000/4200/4400/4600/5000/5300/5500/6000 and Iris 5100/5200/6100/6200. The HD Graphics Celeron / Pentium and Core modules are also managed by these drivers.
Beyond the graphics, Intel will have to line motherboards drivers for Windows 10 with the appropriate drivers for the proper recognition of its chipsets, drivers Management Engine or drivers for RAID. These are not yet available.
Intel Platform Research drivers
The good news, as good news there is that Intel already offers Windows 10 drivers for its network solutions. Thus, pilots PROSet / Wireless 18.0-bound they are WiFi cards compatible Windows 10 like the Intel PROSet 20.1 to drivers wired network adapters 100Mbps / 1Gbps / 10Gbps.
Logitech
The mouse manufacturer has not yet reported on Windows driver availability 10. All are we more emerged a version 2.20 Options software providing support for new devices but without mention of Windows 10. Remember that number Logitech keyboards and mice were delivered with the SetPoint drivers; drivers that are not developed by Logitech, the brand has since designed "Options", new drivers who systematically accompany the new hardware. Microsoft
Impossible of course not to mention that Microsoft will put drivers available for its devices whether keyboards, mice and other webcam without forgetting the Xbox controllers. NVIDIA
Nvidia is obviously on alert. The brand provides drivers for some time for the operating system, drivers are WHQL certified and support the GeForce 400/500/600/700 and 900 DirectX 12 is of course to the program for GeForce fit a pilot who meets the requirements of the Windows Display Driver Model 2.0. Realtek
The Taiwanese Realtek offers since May already compatible Windows audio drivers 10. Thus one can find on the brand website WHQL certified drivers for Windows Vista, Windws 7/8 and 10. The last date version is the version R2.79 which is compatible with most existing audio codecs brand including ALC 888, ALC 892, ALC 899 and LCD 900.
Concerning its network controllers, the brand has not set Windows compatible driver line 10. Note, however, that they are mostly already built into Windows 10 in a generic version.
Symantec
The Symantec security software company already ensures that its solutions will be compatible Norton Windows 10 . Are concerned Norton 360, Norton Antivirus, Norton Internet Security, Norton Security, and Norton One. Small detail still only versions than version 17 actually work with the new system. 17 and earlier versions can not even be installed on the new Microsoft OS.
